RSS -> ping service?

Posted by Daniel Brahneborg on 2007 February 20

Are there any services that can take an RSS feed and ping the servers that I want, not just a list of american ones? It can’t be that difficult, can it?

    sounds like you need a feedreader or digg.com bro…

  2. Well, it’s my own blog(s) that I want the RSS feed on. The question is how to configure the ping services to contact when something new appears. I want this:

    1. I write a post.
    2. The RSS reader sees it.
    3. The RSS reader pings the Swedish servers that I want, including paths to indicate categories etc.

    Daniel, seems that it is not too difficult to do that but IMHO i think what’s stopping people from developing such apps is the risk of widespread blog spam.

  4. Good point. If I do write one and make it public, I’ll make sure to only allow registered users etc. Then we’ll see. Thanks for the warning.
